Wings of fire

The book is an autobiography written by Sir Arun Tiwari and Sir A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The novel revolves around the life of Sir A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, who shares his experiences and the most minute details of his life as a scientist. The book discusses his family background, the pain and suffering he endured, and how he overcame his grief. This book had a significant impact on my life. It contains numerous details about the technological and political challenges he faced.

It provides insight into the harmony that exists among India's various religious communities. It's the story of a young boy who tries to achieve his dreams despite all odds.

It has emphasized our scientists' contributions to aeronautical, space, and rocket technology. This book has the influence and power to motivate a person to stand out in life.

I discovered this book on Amazon's Best Sellers list. Then I decided to read this book. I felt the same way Sir Kalam did when he was involved in the program.

This book tells the story of independent India's struggle for technological self-sufficiency and sovereignty in defense systems.

Sir Abdul Kalam stayed in Ramesh Varam, which is known for its 'Shiv' temple. The famous temple was only a few kilometers away from Abdul Kalam's home in a Muslim-dominated area.

The story in the book is about a boy who rises from a humble lower-middle-class family and tells the story of India's efforts in rocketry and space technology. This book is divided into four segments.

Sir Abdul Kalam was called India's missile man.

The first segment focuses on Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Kalam's childhood. His recollections of the early days are very reminiscent of the old Magudi setup. In the book, he recalls his parents, relatives, and teachers as his most influential characters. This segment covers all of his early education and travels.

Abdul Kalam used to sell newspapers to help his brother, was a good friend of the temple priest, and his father was a respected man to whom people turned for advice. In the first few chapters, Abdul Kalam discusses his school days; his brother-in-law's influence on him, and his teachers. He also writes about the financial difficulties he faced while in school.

The following section is about Kalam's additional education and work experience, his involvement in military defense and space projects, most notably the SLV3.

The third segment spans the years from ISRO to military defense labs. This section, too, is full of pictures and keeps us entertained. And to think, he mainly worked in government institutions where bureaucracy is the norm.

We have all heard of SLV3, PSLV, Akaash, Naga, Agni, and Trishul in the news. These technological achievements mark the success of what is now one of India's most influential and determined aeronautical and space organizations.

The final segment is connected with Sir Kalam's later years, where he is bestowed with a series of awards, his thoughts, and his visions for a proud India. It is difficult not to be inspired by Sir Kalam's life. This segment, as well as the conclusion, mentions Kalam's dream for the year 2020.

The following chapters highlight some of Sir Vikram Sarabhai's enormous contributions to establishing a space research center and opening new doors for aspiring scientists. In collaboration with other scientists, Abdul Kalam's efforts would help ordinary Indians understand the zeal, the struggle of the human soul in making India a well-respected country in space science.

As Abdul Kalam's mentor, Vikram Sarabhai possessed expert management and team-building abilities. He used to groom Abdul Kalam into becoming a scientist to be remembered for years to come.

The book is fundamentally about the great Indian dream—a wish shared by all of a country's founding fathers and one fulfilled by Abdul Kalam.

Sir Abdul Kalam made millions of Indians proud.
